Our
Story
Wheatland Hockey was built on a shared vision: to create something meaningful for young athletes of all skill levels. Founded by Coach Rich and Rachel, our mission is to build programs where kids can thrive both on and off the ice.
Coach Rich, a lifelong hockey player and career educator, has spent the past decade coaching high-level youth hockey alongside his younger brother, Drake. As both a coach and a goalie parent, Rich brings a unique, dual perspective to the game. He understands the time, commitment, and investment families make to support their athletes through specialized training, extra ice time and off-ice development.
Wheatland was created to meet those needs, offering development-focused, inclusive programs that help kids become better hockey players and help them grow into confident individuals, strong leaders, and well-rounded athletes.
Wheatland’s coaching team is the backbone of what we do. Every coach brings a wealth of experience, energy, and commitment to developing young athletes in a supportive, engaging environment. While hockey skills are a key focus, our coaches understand that real development means more than drills and ice time and they help foster a culture of building confidence, resilience, and life skills.
Their diverse professional backgrounds further strengthen our program. From educators to athletic therapists, our coaches provide not only technical hockey instruction but also mentorship by helping guid athletes in leadership, teamwork, and personal growth.
Behind the scenes, Rachel ensures the off-ice experience is just as exceptional. With her organizational expertise and sharp attention to detail, she manages logistics and communication—keeping families connected and informed every step of the way.
Together with their coaching staff, Rachel and Rich are building a hockey community that is supportive and welcoming to all.
